Multifold Portable Ramp with Grip Tape, 12ft

Our longest portable ramp at 12 feet, with a grip tape surface for wet and icy conditions.

Features & Benefits

Why this one

Grip tape surface

Grip tape gives a high friction surface, which matters most in rain, frost or wet leaves.

Made for our winters

A smooth aluminium ramp is slippery in Ontario weather, and that affects the person pushing as much as the chair.

Handles two steps

Suits a rise of about 12 inches, which is two standard steps, at the recommended gradient.

Multifold packing

Folds twice to about 3 feet, so it fits a car even at this length.

A genuine two-handed lift

Heavy. Lifting it in and out of a car is beyond what many carers can manage repeatedly.

Consider a fixed ramp

For daily use at one entrance, a modular ramp with handrails is almost always the better answer.

About this product

A 12 foot multifold ramp with grip tape, the longest portable ramp we stock. It suits a rise of about 12 inches, which is two standard steps.

The grip tape matters more on a long ramp

A longer ramp means a longer time spent on the slope, and more of that time carrying speed on the way down. Grip tape gives a high friction surface so wheels and feet hold rather than slide.

It matters most in wet weather. A smooth aluminium ramp in rain, frost or with wet leaves on it is slippery, and that affects the person pushing as much as the chair. In Ontario that is most of the year.

If the ramp will be used outdoors, particularly through winter, the grip surface is worth having rather than an upgrade to consider.

Twelve feet is two steps

Two standard steps is 12 to 16 inches of total rise. At one foot of ramp per inch, 12 feet properly handles about 12 inches.

Measure the total rise from the ground to the top surface. If it comes to more than 12 inches, a portable ramp is probably the wrong answer and a modular ramp or a lift will serve better.

Be realistic about handling it

This is a heavy piece of equipment. Folded it is about 3 feet, which fits a car, but lifting it in and out is a genuine two-handed job and beyond what many carers can manage repeatedly.

It suits a ramp that stays at one location and is set up when needed, or occasional travel where someone able-bodied is handling it.

When to choose something else

For daily use at the same entrance, a modular ramp is almost always better: it stays in place, has handrails and level landings, and nobody carries anything. Tell us how it will be used and we will say which suits.
