Folding Walker - Bariatric
A heavy duty folding walker with a wider, deeper frame, steel reinforcement and dual front wheels, for users who need more room and more strength.
Why this one
Wider, deeper frame
A wider and deeper frame than a standard walker, so a larger person fits inside it properly rather than walking with arms pinned in.
Steel reinforcement
Steel legs and side braces with a reinforcing U-brace replace the lighter aluminum used on a standard folding walker.
Dual front wheels
Dual 5 inch front wheels spread the load and keep the walker rolling smoothly under weight, rather than a single wheel each side.
Independent sides
Each side still folds independently at the press of a button, so the frame narrows for a doorway without collapsing entirely.
About this product
A bariatric two button folding walker, built wider and deeper than a standard frame and reinforced to carry considerably more weight. It works the same way as a standard folding walker, with each side folding independently at the press of a button, but the engineering underneath is different.
What makes it bariatric
Three things. The frame is wider and deeper, so a larger person fits inside it properly rather than being hemmed in by the side rails. Steel legs and side braces replace the lighter aluminum used on a standard walker, along with a reinforcing U-brace. And the front runs dual 5 inch wheels rather than single, spreading the load and keeping the walker rolling smoothly under weight.
Width matters as much as strength here. A walker that is too narrow forces someone to walk with their arms pinned in, which is uncomfortable and unstable. The wider frame lets the arms hang naturally, which is both safer and less tiring.
Wheels in front, glides behind
Dual front wheels mean the walker is pushed rather than lifted with each step. The rear legs sit on glide caps that slide over most floors but grip when weight goes down, so it holds firm when you lean on it.
Weight capacity
Bariatric walkers are supplied in more than one capacity rating and suppliers describe this frame differently. Because getting this wrong matters, we confirm the rated capacity of the specific walker before it leaves us. Tell us the weight it needs to support and we will match it properly rather than assume.
Fit
Height adjusts. The handgrip should sit at the crease of your wrist when standing upright with arms relaxed. Come into the showroom and we will measure and set it.
