Evac+Chair Power 800 Evacuation Chair

A battery powered evacuation chair that climbs stairs as well as descending them, with a manual override if the battery is flat.

Features & Benefits

Why this one

Goes up as well as down

A motorised track system climbs as well as descends, which matters for basements, underground levels and any below-grade area.

Motor does the lifting

The motor does the lifting while the operator guides, so moving a passenger does not depend on the operator's strength.

Manual override

A manual override switch reverts the chair to manual operation, so a flat battery does not leave you with an unusable device.

Charges in 90 minutes

The lithium ion battery charges in 1.5 hours and holds the equivalent of a five storey building thirty times up and down.

Narrow profile

A narrow profile lets other occupants pass on the stairs, so the chair does not hold up everyone evacuating behind it.

Built for emergencies

LED guidance lights assist in smoke or a power failure, and the frame is flame retardant with an antimicrobial coating.

Extra long harness

An extra long four point quick release harness and a height adjustable padded head cushion hold the passenger securely.

Two can operate it

Additional operator handles allow a second person to assist, and the stair track adjusts by tension to suit the staircase.

About this product

The Power 800 is a battery powered stairway evacuation chair, and the difference from a manual chair is that it goes up as well as down.

Why that matters

Manual evacuation chairs work by gravity: friction tracks control a controlled descent. That covers most buildings, but not all. If people need to get out of a basement, an underground car park, a subway level or a below-grade plant room, there is nothing to descend to. The Power 800 has a motorised track system, so the operator guides while the motor does the climbing or the lowering.

It is also used for daily patient transport, not only emergencies, which is why care settings and hospitals buy it as much as building operators do.

Battery and override

The lithium ion battery charges fully in an hour and a half and holds enough for the equivalent of going up and down a five storey building thirty times. Crucially there is a manual override switch, so if the battery is flat the chair still works as a manual evacuation chair. A powered device that becomes useless without power would be a poor thing to rely on in an emergency.

Designed for a stairwell in use

The narrow profile matters more than it sounds. In a real evacuation the stairwell is full of people going down. A chair that blocks the width holds up everyone behind it. This one is built so others can pass. LED guidance lights help in smoke or a power failure, and the frame is flame retardant with an antimicrobial coating.

Passenger and operator

An extra long four point quick release harness and a height adjustable padded head cushion hold the passenger. Additional operator handles let a second person assist on difficult stairs, and the stair track adjusts by tension to suit the staircase.
