Drive Medical Viper Plus GT Wheelchair 22"
A lightweight folding wheelchair with a 22 inch seat and a 350 lb capacity, with adjustable back height, back angle and seat height.
Why this one
Higher 350 lb capacity
The 22 inch model is rated to 350 lbs, fifty pounds above the narrower sizes in the range, without moving to a bariatric frame.
Wider seat
A 22 inch seat suits broader users who would be pinched at the hips in a standard width chair, which causes pressure and poor posture.
Light to handle
The aluminum frame keeps the chair to roughly 34 to 36 lbs, light enough to fold and load without help for most people.
Quick-release wheels
The rear wheels release at the press of a button, cutting the weight you actually lift into a car and making the folded chair smaller.
Universal armrests
Armrests flip back and lift out for side transfers, adjust to eight heights, and convert between desk and full length as needed.
Two seat heights
Two axle positions set the seat at 17.5 or 19.5 inches, suiting shorter users and foot propellers as well as taller adults.
Adjustable back angle
The backrest angle adjusts between 5 and 20 degrees, which few chairs in this class offer and which matters for posture and comfort.
Low maintenance
Sealed bearings front and rear, urethane tires and composite mag wheels mean no tire pressure to check and very little upkeep.
About this product
The Viper Plus GT is a lightweight folding wheelchair built around adjustability. Where most chairs at this price are fixed once they leave the box, the Viper Plus GT lets you change back height, back angle and seat height, so the chair can be set up properly for the person using it and adjusted again as their needs change.
The aluminum frame keeps the weight down to roughly 34 to 36 lbs, and the rear wheels come off at the press of a button, so what you actually lift into a car boot is considerably less than the full chair. The frame folds for storage and transport.
How it adjusts
The backrest adjusts for height in one inch increments and for angle between 5 and 20 degrees. Two quick-release axle positions set the seat height at 17.5 inches, suited to shorter users and to anyone who propels with their feet, or 19.5 inches for taller adults. The armrests flip back, remove, adjust for height and convert between desk and full length.
Sizing
This is the 22 inch seat width, which carries a higher 350 lb capacity than the narrower sizes. Note that the seat rail extension that gives adjustable seat depth is standard on the 16, 18 and 20 inch models only. Seat width should be measured rather than estimated, so if you are unsure come into the showroom and we will fit it properly.
