Pediatric Walkers
Gait trainers that support a child to walk, with support that can be reduced as they develop.
Gait trainers and walking frames for children, supporting a child to walk who cannot walk independently.
Not a smaller adult walker
An adult walker steadies someone who can already walk. A paediatric gait trainer does considerably more: it can support the trunk, the pelvis and the legs, hold a child upright, and prevent the falls that would otherwise make walking impossible to practise.
Children's frames are also usually posterior, meaning the frame sits behind the child and is pulled along. That encourages an upright posture and forward gaze, where a frame in front tends to pull a child into a stoop.
Why walking practice matters so much
For a child with cerebral palsy or a similar condition, supported walking is not simply about getting across a room. Weight-bearing through the legs supports bone density and helps the hips develop properly, which matters because hip displacement is a genuine risk.
It builds the muscle patterns that walking depends on, and it puts the child at standing height among other children, moving under their own power. That last part changes how a child is included, and families notice it before they notice anything clinical.
Support that can be reduced
A good gait trainer can be set up with a great deal of support and then progressively reduced: trunk supports removed, pelvic support lowered, prompts taken away as the child develops.
That progression is the point, so ask what can be removed later rather than only what it does today.
Growth
Children grow, and frames adjust only so far. Ask how much growth is left in a particular model before choosing, because outgrowing a frame in a year is expensive and disruptive.
These are specified, not simply bought
Setup is individual: height, pelvic position, trunk support, prompts and the amount of assistance. Set wrongly, a frame can reinforce a pattern you are trying to correct.
These are specified by a physiotherapist following an assessment, and we supply, set up and adjust exactly what has been specified. We handle the funding paperwork alongside it.
Ask us
Bring the therapist's recommendation and we will take it from there. If nobody has assessed the child yet, that is where to start.
R82 Crocodile Posterior Walker
A posterior walking aid for children that sits behind the user to encourage upright posture, with modular supports that adapt as the child progresses.

R82 Mustang Gait Trainer
A children's gait trainer that sets up either in front of or behind the child, so one frame follows them as their walking develops.
