Wonder Pivot Bed Rail, Tall
A tall bed rail that pivots down out of the way, locking at three widths with a 300 lb capacity.
Why this one
Drops out of the way
Pivots down out of the way, so the rail is there when wanted and gone when it is not.
For shared beds
Suits a shared bed, or where a carer needs access to change sheets and assist.
22 inches tall
At 22 inches it stands taller than a standard rail, giving more to hold when pulling up to sitting.
Three locking widths
Locks at 26, 32 or 38.5 inches wide, so one rail suits several bed sizes.
Tighter bar spacing
A 3.25 inch gap between bars, tighter than many rails, which reduces entrapment risk.
Check the latch
Confirm the pivot latches positively in the raised position before anyone leans on it.
About this product
A tall bed rail that pivots down out of the way when it is not needed. It locks in place at 26, 32 or 38.5 inches wide, stands 22 inches high, and is rated to 300 lbs.
Why pivoting matters
A fixed rail is always there. That is fine for someone who needs it constantly, and a nuisance for everyone else: a partner sharing the bed, a carer who needs access to change sheets or assist, or the person themselves on a day when they do not want it.
This one swings down beside the bed. The rail is available when wanted and out of the way when not, which is often what decides whether it stays fitted or gets removed after a month.
Taller than most
At 22 inches high it stands further above the mattress than a standard rail. That gives more to hold when pulling up to sitting, and more barrier if that is the intention.
Height has to be considered against the mattress, though. A thick mattress reduces how far the rail stands proud, which changes both its usefulness and its safety.
The gap, and who this is not for
The gap between the bars is 3.25 inches, tighter than many rails, which reduces entrapment risk.
Even so, any rail carries that risk for someone confused, very frail or unable to free themselves. If that describes the person, tell us before ordering and we will discuss whether a rail is appropriate at all, or whether a fall mat beside the bed is the safer answer.
Fitting
It locks at three widths, so it suits different bed sizes. Check the fixings when fitted and re-check periodically, and confirm the pivot latches positively in the raised position before anyone leans on it.
