Trapeze for Halsa Bed (HB3606)
A 300 lb trapeze bar for the Halsa bed, letting someone pull themselves up to reposition and relieve pressure.
Why this one
Pull rather than push
Pulling up from above is easier than pushing up from the mattress, and often restores movement that had been lost.
Reposition independently
Lets someone shift back up the bed after sliding down, which is very hard to do by pushing.
Helps pressure relief
Lifting clear of the mattress takes load off the skin, which helps between formal turns for pressure care.
Easier, more dignified care
A carer can change sheets or give personal care while the person lifts, rather than rolling them.
300 lb capacity
Rated to 300 lbs, so it can be pulled on hard rather than used only for light assistance.
Check the shoulders
Loads the shoulders heavily, so check with a therapist if shoulders are painful or unstable.
About this product
A trapeze bar for the Halsa bed, HB3606, rated to 300 lbs. It hangs above the bed so the person can pull themselves up and reposition using their arms.
Pulling is easier than pushing
Someone who cannot push themselves up from the mattress can often pull themselves up from above. The arms are stronger in that direction and the grip is more secure, so a trapeze frequently restores movement that had been lost.
Three things in particular become possible again.
Repositioning. Shifting back up the bed after sliding down is very hard by pushing and straightforward by pulling. Someone who can do it themselves is far less dependent on a carer being in the room.
Pressure relief. Lifting clear of the mattress, even briefly and even partially, takes load off the skin. For anyone at risk of pressure injuries who has usable arms, that is valuable between formal turns.
Care and bed changes. Lifting on the trapeze while a carer changes a sheet or provides personal care is quicker and considerably more dignified than being rolled.
Check the shoulders first
Pulling on a trapeze loads the shoulders heavily. It is not suitable where shoulders are painful or unstable, or where the person cannot grip reliably.
Shoulder problems are common in people who have used their arms hard for years, so it is worth asking a therapist rather than assuming a trapeze will help.
