Swivel Shower Stool
A shower stool with a swivelling seat, giving the turning action in the smallest possible footprint.
Why this one
Swivel in a small space
Swivel action in the smallest possible footprint, for cubicles where a chair with a back will not fit.
Turn instead of twist
Sit facing out and rotate in, without twisting the spine or shuffling the feet on a wet floor.
Protects the hips
Keeps hips and spine aligned, which suits anyone told not to twist after a hip replacement.
Know the limits
No back and no arms. Choose the swivel chair if leaning back or standing up is the difficulty.
About this product
A shower stool with a swivelling seat. It combines the small footprint of a stool with the turning action of a swivel chair.
Why a swivel stool rather than a swivel chair
In a small cubicle a chair with a back and arms simply may not fit, and a stool is often the only thing that will. This gives you the swivel action anyway.
You sit down facing outwards, then rotate to face the shower without twisting your spine or shuffling your feet on a wet floor. Turning in a confined space is exactly where balance is lost, and this removes it.
Who it suits
Someone with a small shower who can sit and rise unaided but finds turning painful or unsteady. That includes anyone after a hip replacement who has been told not to twist, and anyone with a stiff back who cannot rotate comfortably at the waist.
It also makes reaching a tap or a shelf easier, since you turn the seat rather than your body.
What it does not give you
No back, so nothing to lean against when tilting the head to wash hair. No arms, so nothing to push up from when standing.
If either of those is the difficulty, the swivel shower chair is the better choice, provided the cubicle has room for it.
Practical points
Confirm the seat locks in each position before putting weight on it. Adjust the legs so the feet rest flat with knees at roughly a right angle, all four set identically, with non-slip tips in solid contact with the floor.
