Folding Shower Chair
A shower chair that folds flat for storage or travel, for shared bathrooms and temporary needs.
Why this one
Folds away
Folds flat and stores away, so a shared bathroom is not permanently obstructed for everyone else.
For temporary needs
Suits a temporary need after surgery or during treatment, where a chair is wanted for weeks not years.
Travels easily
Goes in a car boot, so someone can visit family or travel without losing a safe shower.
Check the lock
Hinges are moving parts in a wet place. Check the lock engages before every use and rinse the hinges regularly.
About this product
A shower chair that folds flat. It does the same job as a standard shower chair and then packs away, which solves a problem plenty of households have.
When folding is the deciding factor
A shared bathroom. If one person needs a seat and everyone else showers standing, a fixed chair becomes an obstacle the rest of the household squeezes around every day. A chair that folds against the wall or lifts out takes that friction away.
A temporary need. After surgery, an injury, or during treatment, a shower chair may be needed for weeks rather than years. Folding means it can be stored afterwards, or lent within a family, rather than taking up room permanently.
And travel. A folding chair goes in a car boot, which a rigid one does not, so someone can visit family or take a holiday without losing the ability to shower safely.
The trade-off
A folding frame has hinges, and hinges are moving parts in a wet environment. Check the folding mechanism locks positively before every use, and do not sit down until it has. Rinse and dry the hinges periodically so soap residue does not build up in them.
For someone using a chair daily and permanently, a rigid chair has less to go wrong. Folding is worth choosing for a reason, not by default.
Setting it up
Adjust the legs so the feet rest flat with knees at roughly a right angle, all four set identically. Non-slip tips grip the shower floor.
