Features & Benefits

Why this one

Helps you stand up

Arms give something to push up from, which is what makes standing possible when legs are weak.

Control sitting down

Also helps lowering under control, rather than dropping the last few inches onto a hard seat.

Padded arms

Padded rather than bare tube, which is more comfortable to bear weight through for thin or sensitive skin.

Arms come off

Arms remove for a sideways transfer from a wheelchair, then refit, so one chair covers both situations.

Back support too

A backrest supports you when tilting the head back to wash hair, where most shower falls happen.

Check your width

Arms add width. Measure the cubicle and the door opening before ordering.

About this product

A shower chair with a backrest and removable padded arms. The arms are the reason to choose this over a plain chair with a back.

Arms solve standing up

Rising from a low seat uses your legs, or your arms, or both. If someone's legs are weak, arms are what make standing possible at all, and on a wet floor that is the difference between managing alone and needing help.

They also help going down. Lowering yourself under control onto a seat is harder than it sounds when your legs are unreliable, and dropping the last few inches onto a hard shower seat is both painful and unsafe.

Padded, and removable

Padded arms are more comfortable to bear weight through than bare tube, particularly for anyone thin or with sensitive skin.

Being removable matters practically. Arms can be taken off for a sideways transfer from a wheelchair or a bench, then put back for everyday use. That means one chair covers both situations rather than forcing a choice.

Check the width

Arms add width. In a narrow cubicle a chair with arms may not fit, or may not leave room to get on and off. Measure before ordering, particularly the door opening.

Setting it up

Adjust the legs so the feet rest flat with knees at roughly a right angle, all four set identically and locked. Non-slip tips grip the floor, and drainage holes stop water pooling on the seat.

Also worth knowing

Add a handheld shower head. A fixed overhead shower is aimed at someone standing, so seated it sprays the wall.
