Grange Telescopic Side Rails for Drive Solite Bed
Telescopic full length side rails for the Drive Solite bed, extending to cover the bed and retracting when not needed.
Why this one
Telescopic length
Extend to cover the bed and retract when not needed, rather than being one fixed length.
Out of the way retracted
Retracted, they take up less room, so the bed is easier to get into at the foot end and to work around.
A barrier, not a handhold
Full length rails act as a barrier along the whole bed, rather than a handhold like half rails.
Matched to the Solite
Made for the Drive Solite bed, with gaps engineered around that frame and its intended mattress.
Check both locks
Confirm the rails latch in the raised position and the telescopic section is locked at the set length.
Not right for everyone
A poor choice for someone mobile and confused who may climb over. Ask us about a fall mat instead.
About this product
Grange telescopic side rails for the Drive Solite bed. Full length rails that extend to cover the bed and retract when not needed.
Telescopic rather than fixed
A conventional full length rail is one fixed length. A telescopic rail extends along the bed and retracts, which changes two things.
It adapts to the bed, so the rail covers the length that actually needs covering rather than whatever the fixed part happens to span. And retracted, it takes up far less room, so the bed is easier to get into and out of at the foot end and easier for a carer to work around.
What full length rails are for
Half rails give a handhold for sitting up and getting out. Full length rails are a barrier, intended to stop someone rolling or sliding out along any part of the bed.
That suits someone who moves involuntarily, is sedated, or is genuinely at risk of rolling out and cannot get up unaided in any case.
It is a poor choice for someone mobile and confused, who may climb over and fall from a greater height, and for anyone who could become trapped. If there is any doubt, talk to us or the person's occupational therapist. A fall mat beside the bed is sometimes the safer answer.
Fitting and safety
These are made for the Drive Solite bed and fit that frame, with gaps engineered around it and its intended mattress. A thicker mattress changes those gaps and reduces how far the rail stands above the sleeping surface.
Check the rails latch positively in the raised position every time, and confirm the telescopic section is locked at the length you have set.
