The Fortress S410 is a compact four wheel scooter for everyday use indoors and out. Its selling point within the Fortress range is the turning radius: it is the tightest of the lineup, so it manages shop aisles and hallways in a way most four wheel scooters cannot, while keeping four wheel stability outside.

Standard or High Performance

Two models share the frame and the choice is worth thinking about properly.

The Standard does 10 km/h and carries 300 lbs. It suits daily use on pavements, in shops and around the house.

The High Performance carries 350 lbs and runs a 120 amp controller, which delivers more torque rather than much more speed. The extra torque matters on hills, thick carpet, grass and kerb ramps, where a standard controller runs out of pull. If your routes include real inclines, or you are near the upper end of the standard capacity, the HP is the one to look at.

Range and ride

Up to 34 km on a charge covers a long day out. All-around suspension and 10 inch tires take the sting out of pavement joints and kerb cuts, which is the difference between a scooter you use daily and one that jars enough to put you off.

Comfort and carrying

The seat is a 19 by 19 inch ergonomic padded seat rather than a hard bench, and the large Fortress wire basket comes as standard rather than as an extra, which sounds minor until you try to carry shopping without one. Full LED lighting front and rear keeps you visible in poor light.

Blue is the colour we stock and sell. Black (item 25000249-BLA) and red (item 25000249-RED) are also available to order. Tell us your usual routes, distances and any hills, and we will advise whether the Standard or High Performance suits.
