A handle, not a rail

Full and half rails run along the bed. A grab handle is a single fixed point, positioned where the person's hand actually goes when they sit up and swing their legs out.

For someone who is mobile and simply needs something firm to push against at that moment, a handle is often better than a rail. It gives the support without enclosing the bed, without the entrapment considerations of a longer rail, and without making the bed look like hospital equipment.

It also leaves the bed completely open, so getting in and out is unrestricted and a partner sharing the bed is unaffected.

Short height

This is the short version. A lower handle sits closer to the mattress, which suits someone who pushes down on it while rising rather than pulling up on it from above.

The taller standard version gives more to grip when pulling up to sitting. Which suits depends on how the person actually moves, so it is worth trying if you can, or telling us what they do now.

Fitting

Made for the Drive Solite bed and mounts to that frame. Tell us your bed and we will supply the handle designed for it rather than something that approximately fits.

Check the fixing is tight when installed and re-check periodically. A handle that has worked loose is more dangerous than none, because it is trusted without thinking.
