What ordered-in means for you

These are the cushions a seating therapist specifies for a particular person: a specific model, in a specific size, sometimes with particular fluid pads, valves or covers.

Holding every size of every model is impossible, so these come in to order. Tell us what has been specified and we will price it, order it and fit it. If you are funding through ADP, we handle the paperwork alongside the order.

What is here that is not in our stock range

Fluid and hybrid cushions such as the JAY Fusion, where a fluid pad sits at the sitting bones inside a contoured foam base. Fluid moves under load, so it keeps redistributing as the person shifts.

Contoured and pre-ischial designs, shaped with a ridge in front of the sitting bones that stops the pelvis sliding forward. For someone who slides out of their chair, this shape does what no flat cushion can.

Adjustable cushions, where sections can be added, removed or inflated separately to level a pelvis that is not level, which is extremely common and rarely obvious until someone looks.

Air cushions in configurations beyond our stock range, including dual valve designs that let each side be set independently.

When ordering in is the right answer

When a therapist has specified a model, when the person has a wound or a history of skin damage, when they slide forward or lean persistently, or when a stock cushion has been tried and has not worked.

For everything else, our stock cushions are held here, cost less and can go home the same day.

Sizing

Cushion codes give width by depth in inches, so an SC1816 is 18 wide by 16 deep. Width matches the chair's seat width; depth should stop two to three finger widths short of the back of the knee.

Where a therapist has specified the size, we order exactly that.

Ask us

Send us the prescription or specification and we will quote it. If nobody has assessed the person yet and there is skin damage or persistent sliding, ask for an assessment first: the right cushion chosen properly is worth considerably more than an expensive one chosen hopefully.
