Non-Stock Backs
Specialist and prescribed back supports ordered to specification, including contoured, adjustable tension and bariatric designs.
Specialist wheelchair back supports ordered in to specification, rather than held on our shelves.
What ordered-in means for you
These are the backs a seating therapist specifies for a particular person: a named model, a particular width and height, with specific lateral supports, mounting hardware or contour.
Tell us what has been specified and we will price it, order it and fit it. If the funding is going through ADP, we handle that paperwork alongside the order.
What is here beyond our stock range
Deeply contoured backs such as the Sunrise Medical J3 and Motion Concepts Elite, which wrap around the trunk rather than simply sitting behind it, for someone who needs real lateral control.
Adjustable tension backs, where individual straps behind the upholstery are tightened or loosened to shape the support to a particular spine. Useful where a fixed shell would fight the person's own curvature.
Heavy duty and bariatric backs, built for higher weight and wider frames.
Backs with adjustable lateral supports, which can be moved in, out, up and down as posture changes or a child grows.
Full ranges from Motion Concepts, Sunrise Medical, Ki Mobility, Future Mobility, PowerPlus and Comfort Relief in sizes we do not hold.
When ordering in is the right answer
When a therapist has specified a model, when the person leans persistently to one side, when a fixed-shape back does not match their spine, or when a stock back has been tried and has not held them.
For a straightforward replacement of stretched sling upholstery, our stock backs are held here, cost less and can go home the same day.
Sizing
Back codes give width by height in inches, so a BR1816 is 18 wide by 16 high. Width matches the chair's seat width; height depends on how much trunk support is needed, and a back taller than necessary restricts an active user's pushing.
Ask us
Send us the prescription or specification and we will quote it. If nobody has assessed the person and they are sliding forward or leaning, ask for an assessment first, because the mounting angle and height matter as much as the model chosen.
