BURE StandTall Walker with Gas Cylinder

A platform walker that supports the forearms rather than the hands, with stepless gas height adjustment and sit-to-stand handles.

Features & Benefits

Why this one

Stepless height by gas

A gas cylinder gives stepless height adjustment, so the height is set anywhere in the range rather than to the nearest fixed notch.

Weight through forearms

Anatomical arm cushions take weight through the forearms, so someone who cannot load their wrists and hands can still walk supported.

Angled arm cushions

The cushions angle downwards, relieving shoulders, arms and neck and shifting effort to the larger leg and chest muscles.

Sit-to-stand support

Two handles let someone rise from a bed or chair and then continue straight into walking, without changing equipment.

Fits home doorways

At 32 inches wide it passes through most home doorways, which many platform walkers are too wide to manage.

Handles adjust any way

Handles adjust in every direction, so grip position can be set to suit hands, wrists and shoulder width precisely.

330 lb capacity

Rated to 330 lbs, and the frame weighs about 55 lbs, which gives it the stability this kind of support requires.

Accessories available

Side supports, a stirrup and an oxygen bottle attachment are available separately for users who need them.

About this product

The BURE StandTall is a platform walker, and it does two jobs an ordinary walker cannot. It helps someone rise from a bed or chair, then supports them through the arms while they walk. It is used heavily in rehabilitation and in care settings, and at home where someone needs substantial support to be upright at all.

Weight through the forearms, not the hands

Instead of handgrips, the BURE has anatomical arm cushions angled downwards. Someone who cannot take much weight through their wrists and hands, whether from arthritis, weakness or injury, can still lean on their forearms. The downward angle relieves the shoulders, arms and neck, and shifts the effort onto the larger muscles of the legs and chest, which is both less painful and more stable. It also makes the walker easier to steer.

The gas cylinder

This version has a gas cylinder giving stepless height adjustment, so the height is set anywhere in the range rather than to the nearest fixed notch, and changed without tools. That matters for a walker used for sit-to-stand, where the right height at the moment of rising differs from the right height for walking. The manual version adjusts by hand and suits someone whose height, once set, will rarely change.

It fits through doors

At 32 inches wide it passes through most home doorways, which many platform walkers do not. Height adjusts from 36 to 53 inches and the armrests set between 12 and 18 inches apart, so it fits a wide range of people.
