Economy Bed Design (“The Brown Bed”)

Many manufacturers offer a low-cost electric bed design commonly referred to in the industry as the “Brown Bed”, named for its typical brown frame finish. These beds are marketed as economical options for clients with very limited budgets, allowing vendors and retailers to provide a budget-friendly choice.

However, this cost reduction often comes at the expense of quality and durability. To keep prices low, manufacturers cut corners on materials and construction, resulting in beds that may save money upfront but lead to higher long-term maintenance costs for end users.

From a comfort perspective, these beds are the only ones in the industry that use a spring mesh deck system. This design negatively impacts mattress performance, reducing its ability to deliver proper comfort and pressure redistribution — critical factors for patient care.
